We haven't really gotten into full detail on the blog just how many trials and tribulations we have been experiencing as new homeowners. More because I don't like to think about them! But one more thing on our list has been the drainage problem in our backyard. Whenever we have a hard rain, we gain a lake right up against our house (the first time it happened, the water came in through our sliding glass door track and we were starting to really worry about the hardwood floors in the sunroom). Justin dug some temporary trenches while we tried to get a decent bid and proposal for the work in the backyard.

Nice view, huh? |
Then this past weekend, Justin decided to tackle the other side of our backyard where we suspected a clogged downspout off the gutter. He also wanted to find out where the downspout connection ended. We quickly realized it was no surprise why we were having draining issues over there:
Our clogged downspout
What he found inside the french drain pipe! eek!
Our east side yard now matches our west . . .
I feel like Billy Madison when he grabs the chubby kid's face and says "Stay as long as you can!" when the chubby kid says "I can't wait to go to "hike" [high] school, Billy." Except that all of you non-homeowners are the chubby kid saying "I can't wait to buy a house."
STAY AS LONG AS YOU CAN!
