18 days since my last blog post? I honestly have no idea how that happened. I wish I could say that I have been writing my novel this whole time. Yeah, that didn't happen either. Although, I will say that the good thing about the November Novel project is that I finally came up with a premise, basic plot, and some characters for my novel, and I wrote the prologue and first chapter. It's a start! We have been pretty busy the last 18 days - we had some more family visiting, my Grandad's 85th birthday, and Junior League's "Festival of Trees." Here are some pictures to catch you up!

I think I've mentioned before that I joined Junior League this year. Junior League is a women's organization that fundraises and volunteers in the community. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is "Festival of Trees." Individuals and organizations donate decorated Christmas trees and wreaths for auction, and all of the proceeds go to our project this year, which is the Children's Hunger Project. They also have pictures with Santa, a bake sale, and a bunch of vendor space. $150 will feed one child on weekends for an entire year, and we are paired with an elementary school in the area with several homeless families. As new members, we were asked to put together a tree for the auction and my "theme" was chosen - "Santa Baby" (like the song). Here is our finished product!
Lila logged just as many volunteer hours as me, and I took the opportunity to dress her in holiday garb to get into the Christmas spirit:

Ready for the Junior League meeting, Mom! |
The overall theme for Festival of Trees was a "Cherished Holiday Tradition" and the tree in the front entrance was gorgeous. I loved how they made the burlap garland.
One of Justin favorite trees for auction was this one:
The highlight of the weekend, though, was Lila getting her picture taken with Santa!
Here she is getting ready to go:

Me: "Lila, we're going to meet Santa today." |
|
Lila: "Santa?! I KNOW him!" (a la Will Ferrell in Elf) |
Junior League also has the hook up on the "real" Santa. Seriously. See for yourself.
The Christmas season has started early in the Watts household! Merry Merry!
