We knew we wanted one, we did not want to pay the $1000-1200 price tag . . . so we got resourceful as usual! A house on our street is being flipped so Justin left a note on the door saying we were interested in the play set in the backyard. The contractor ended up delivering it to our house for the sweet price tag of $180. It was rough looking . . . but it was sturdy so we went for it.
Justin got to work and spent the 3 weekends before Lila's birthday working nonstop on it. Here it is in progress in pieces in our yard . . .
And the final product completely paid off:
Justin replaced about half a dozen rotted boards, sanded, painted, replaced hardware with stainless steel, we ordered a baby swing for James and a big girl swing for Lila, and when it was all said and done, spent about a third of what we would have paid for a brand new one. My paltry contribution was planting the flowers in the flower box . . . Justin wins Dad of the Year award for sure! His hard work paid off and we will get years of happy play for Lila and James!
And all their friends! ;)
