Converting the Barringers to Floridians?

But first, an update on school: everything is going smoothly at this point!  I have email access, I can finally take attendance on the computer, and my curriculum is coming together.  The kids are sweethearts, and all of my class sizes are less than 18 (so awesome!).  Overall, the first week went very well.  I still miss my Stuart crew, though.

Mom and Jack arrived Thursday night to visit.  Of course, I had to make the chicken broccoli braid for my baby brother: it's his favorite.  They arrived with two bagfuls of Trader Joe's for us!!!!!!!!  It only reinforced the fact that I LOVE TRADER JOE'S MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD.  And I finally got my baby beets back!

On Friday, Justin and I both had to work, so Jack and Mom headed down to Vero to visit with Grandad and Pauline.  Jack and Grandad played golf, and Mom and Pauline cruised around Sebastian.  Justin and I met everyone at Mo Bay Grill in Sebastian - an ah-mazing Jamaican restaurant.  The chef does all of the cooking and it was soooo yummy!  Then the four of us headed back to Melbourne and rented the new remake of "Arthur" with Russell Brand.  It was a cute movie - with some sad parts!  The rest of the weekend we joked that Mom was Jack's "Hobson" (aka his Nanny!)

Saturday we went to the beach (and hit up Billie's again!)

It was pretty flat out there.

Billie's!
We found a little sea turtle in the parking lot that went the wrong way when he hatched.  So sad!

One of the reasons why Mom and Jack came to visit:  we've inherited the truck.  Now all 3 kids have owned it!  The speedometer reached 200,000 on the drive down here and muffler fell off.  Good thing there's NO inspections in Florida :)  Beach truck, check.

We went to dinner at Cantina Dos Amigos on the beachside Saturday night.  It was delish!  There was a beautiful moon out on the way home.

We went to see "30 Minutes or Less" on Saturday night.  It was very funny - the guy from Parks and Recreation, Aziz Ansari, was hilarious.  We are huge "Eastbound and Down" fans, so we have to see anything with Danny McBride.  I was also happy to see Dilshad Vadsaria on the big screen - I loved her as Rebecca Logan on the show "Greek."

On Sunday, Jack hit the links with Grandad again.  Then we headed to the beach that afternoon.

After about two hours, the sky got very ominous.  When we heard the first big thunderclap, we all jumped up and started packing up our stuff and running to the car.  We got everything in just as the first big raindrops started to fall, and then it was pouring!  We just drove up the beach about ten miles and went to Indian Harbour Beach for the rest of the afternoon, where I found my first shark's tooth and seven pieces of sea glass!  Mom took a bunch of pictures of the birds:

We ended our weekend with dinner at home and watched some "Roseanne's Nuts."  Has anyone seen this show?  It's pretty entertaining.  Roseanne lives in Hawaii and has a macadamia nut farm.  Apparently she thinks she is going to hell so she wants to do a bunch of good things for the world so she can get into heaven instead.

It was a great weekend, miss you already Mom and Jack!
