On Saturday, we were finally on the road! We had a fairly uneventful trip, minus the standard bumper to bumper traffic from Northern Virginia to Fredericksburg, but that's always the norm. We were happy to say goodbye to that! It took us 14 hours to get to Fernandina Beach, where the Wallaces really took care of us (I'm still drooling over those chicken mozzarella pesto tomato sandwiches and the Paula Deen french toast!) Something tells me Starbucks this morning just won't compare.
We got up early Sunday morning and arrived in Melbourne around 1:15. We started to unload the truck and waited for the movers we hired on craigslist to show up. They had taken out one piece of furniture and one box when it started to POUR. Apparently Melbourne hasn't had rain in 35 days so it was much needed . . . just not a good time for our move! The movers didn't want to charge us for them to sit around and wait and it did rain for a good hour. Once it finally cleared up, Justin and I just started unloading ourselves. We got more than halfway through the truck (the piano is still in there!). It started to sprinkle again around 7:00 so we decided to call it a day. As we shut up the truck, I looked up in the sky and a big rainbow was above us.
Definitely a good sign.
More pictures to come later today!
